I’d like to introduce Maximilian.
He is a domestic short hair mix, grey, white and tabby. He weighs in 14.88 pounds, and is approximately 2 and a half years old. His legs go on for miles, along with his striped tail.
He was a stray picked up in Leander and has been living at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter for the last month. After walking by rows and rows of cages, some filled with up to three cats, I narrowed it down to a few. Max was certainly not the most outgoing and he didn’t really “sell” himself, but I could tell he had a personality under all that fur.
He’s loving, likes to eat and likes the camera — a match made in heaven. I know, I know…my students tell me that as soon as I get a cat of my own I will have sealed my fate as the single cat lady. But I couldn’t say no to Mr. Max who desperately needed a home.
The shelter is running a special right now, through the first of the year. If you’re thinking of adopting a pet, they have reduced their fees due to overcrowding. Dogs are $50 and cats are $25. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped — which is a really great deal. They even threw in a bag of cat food.
Now that you have met Max, I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of him…
